Connie is a Kukuthaipan and Birri Gubba woman who is well established in the Indigenous art scene.

For the past 20 years Connie has exhibited her works regularly in Australia – she has also showcased her talent in Holland, Russia and France.

Recent shows include the CHOGM People's Pavilion Exhibition; Paradise Palms, Cairns; the Atrium Gallery Exhibition Cairns; the Wesley Hospital Exhibition, "Women's Business" (Healing Arts Program) Brisbane; Sydney Airport Exhibition (15 works on display) "A Place Far Away".

Her work isn’t limited to just paintings, Connie’s craft can be found in souvenirs, manchester, clothing and postcards.

“Other mediums that I work in are glass, mosaic tiles and steel fabrications. Basically my work can be transferred to any medium as I am highly adaptable to different mediums and to three-dimensional works.”

So switching to jewellery isn’t such a surprise for this talented artist and her pieces are superb.

“My artwork is inspired by several things, these being the brilliant colour sights and sounds of Far North Queensland’s rainforest, seas and outback. My work has been described as bold, using both traditional tones and multi-colours from inland to sea themes and also abstracts about life. I often dream my paintings in my sleep before painting them.”

Connie took to the brush at the age of nine, and was part of the family business selling artefacts in Brisbane.
