Shannon Shaw is an Indigenous woman who loves to paint.

Despite being immersed into the art world when she was a child, Shannon only seriously started her career in 1997 already she has exhibited her fine displays in various collections overseas and in Australia.

“My dad inspired me to do it. I really enjoy painting animals. The rich, earthy colours of Australia are what I mainly use and it’s a buzz for me. I love to create - it's real living.”

For three years Shannon did the hard yards in theory and practice studying at the TAFE College in Cairns. It was here she discovered the many facets of the visual arts industry and learned about varying styles and mediums.

“Jewellery is something different to do, my first passion is painting but the jewellery is something I’m interested in... The detail and craftsmanship is what I appreciate about it and the hours that go into the final product.”
