| Pat Singleton | |||||
Pat was born and bred in Cairns, she is part of the Yirrganydji group, which controls the traditional lands between her home town and Port Douglas. In fact, most of those who have visited the far north will have seen many of her works. She was commissioned to paint the 11 metre mural, which is proudly on display at the Cairns International Airport. She has also worked on other grand projects - commissions and exhibitions are regular gigs for this talented artist who is inspired by her home town surroundings. “My totem is the Wongali or white Cockatoo there are many in this area. As for other painting, I also paint the crocodile, the creation story, the rainbow serpent and the ancestral being Dumri.” Pat worked in the nearby Yarrabah Community after graduating from the Cairns Business College in a secretarial course. Since then she has furthered her education by working hard for a Diploma in Arts at the TAFE College. Her
paintings have travelled around the globe and souvenirs
too have clocked up a few frequent flyer points. Pat enjoys going for walks, collecting bush tucker and fishing. To view my pieces for sale click here |
